Mark Pick & Jones Business Systems Present:

During his apprenticeship, Mark Pick learned all about the PICK industry from the ground up.  He is the son of the late Dick Pick, who founded the famous PICK Operating System and Pick Systems, Inc.  Mr. Mark Pick's distinguished career has also included top marketing and sales positions at Unidata and General Automation.

Now with Jones Business Systems, Mr. Pick takes advantage of his newfound "environment-independent" status to boldly speculate about the future of PICK in the year 2000 and beyond; who he thinks will survive and thrive and why; and where he thinks the PICK
environment will be positioned in the coming years as a result of its
rebirth in the Windows, NT and Internet arenas.

Jeff Jakus' President's Message

Last month's meeting was interesting, with Vmark Software presenting their take on Data Warehousing. Most of the presentation looked like a demonstration of Cognos business tools, but impressive none the less.

Along those same lines, the November presentation will be on the Liberty ODBC drivers and set of tools for integrating MultiValue data into Windows applications using the Microsoft ODBC standard. The Liberty tools support just about every version of the Pick data base.

The end of 1997 is rapidly approaching with our holiday party planned for Bellino Bar & Grill in San Jose, December 16th. We are busy planning the presentation schedule for next year so make sure you contact a board member with your ideas and suggestions.
